Little thin your right but the roland 1080 had a much worse one and was used in countless songs heh. Seems like all the newer piano sounds are just trying to re create really huge grand pianos which is fine but hey if it sounds good it sounds good. I like all piano sounds though they are all different, professional grade piano sounds that is. The Piano is not bad, but not great I am sure the SD one is better. And the transwave programming isn't as flexible as later Ensoniqs like the TS-10.īut for just the right open-minded individual, a VFX can be a rad instrument. Any modern VA sounds way "warmer." And yes, many are prone to hardware issues. Really, I can't shower enough love on the VFX-SD. I like that the VFX has a really dark, dingy character. I've looked into later model Ensoniqs, and realized that they're too bright for me.even what I've heard of the SD-1 sounds too High-Fi. And I REALLY LIKE that there aren't any resonant filters.Īnd I personally love the crap out of the sequencer. I should point out that I like experimental music and sounds. The drum sounds are totally shitty, and I love them to death. Its so much fun to program, and I can always cook up something really strange and weird. I paid just over a hundred bucks for my VFX-SD, and it's been one of the best buys I ever made. Its very 90s, and a little thin, as I guess you've discovered. The piano in the VFX-SD is definitely not perfect.
